And so there came
the moment of decision —
the choice
to keep going
with the struggle
or to turn around
and go back,
not back to the past,
but a different option —
the choice to go
a little further —
past the shame
and years of trauma —
past the struggles
to analyze and change —
past all of the noise in my head
and in the world —
back a little further,
a little deeper
to my heart.
