At the Root

I began to let go

of old ideas

of how the story

should go —

showing up

more and more

in resonance

with my own heart,

no longer waiting

for outer reflections

to change —

looking instead

to the subtle,

lasting effects

of the elixir

found at the root

of my own deepest

pain.
