Without a Thought

And so I held this space

in my heart

above all else.

I let go

and held and released

shattered pieces

of a me

I thought I was —

again and again

as they came

back down,

for a while —

until I knew

it was safe

to let go completely —

to be a lighter,

more subtle me

that could hold

and let go

of everything

without exception —

without a thought —

all at once.
