Quiet Reflections and Prayers
I found instant reprieve
in the exact moment
I returned my focus
to the space within my heart.
I learned it was enough
to focus on what was appearing
right in front of me,
allowing all that was past
to be released.
I learned to sense where
life was supporting me to be
in each moment
with a little more grace
and trust.
When I have let go
of so much,
when my body is tired
and my spirit is too,
when I can’t see
a break in the story,
remind me of the calm
just beneath the surface,
the slightest change
of positioning,
and that little bit
of backing up
so that I may
retrace my steps
to even greater reprieve.

for each step
of the mysterious
unfolding of life.
Help me to honor
the tender places,
my greatest challenges —
all unsorted pieces
that led me
to this moment
of reprieve.
