It took a little practice to become willing to walk a new path. Finding it meant reaching inside for the light needed to take each step. It meant remaining willing to listen to life and feel my way, even through uncomfortable experiences. It meant trusting a whisper of truth to become louder and the most chaotic experiences to soften and be used to create something beautiful, but not all at once and not all alone.

Courage to Become
Thank you
for all things
reflecting the sweetness
of the connection
with my own deepest
heart.
Thank you also
for all things
along this path
that have challenged me,
adding to the
tenderness of the journey
and lighting
a fire of courage
to become a little more
free.
Thank you
for courage to set
these things
down.
Amen
Unfolding
I found
it was possible
to follow
a gentler path.
Old patterns
were seen clearly
and had lost
their hold.
The pull
was toward
the peace
I held in my
heart.
And I was grateful
for each tiny step
toward its unfolding.
A New Path
I found
it was possible
to turn in the direction
of natural unity
and abilities
in a world that had
put just about
everything
above the sacredness
of its own soul
and body.
I found it was possible
to look
at where I stood
and choose
to take a different path —
to not get lost
in the grieving of
what could have been
or settle for
bad copies
of what was still
pure —
to remember
what had been kept
hidden and safe
within
my own heart
and to use the skills
I had learned
to find
or create
a new path.
Space for a New Way
I hold this space
for a new way
of being.
I honor the
sacred journey
in me
and in you.
Amen
In Exchange for Beauty
My deepest posture
became one
of reverence.
I found my deepest
self could endure
much shaking
on the surface.
It could honor all
parts of the whole,
without clinging
to a set of ideas
I had thought
myself to be
for a while.
It was no longer
about winning.
It was about
finding a way through
a natural process,
where I had the
chance to participate
in my own evolution —
reaching for a hand —
encouraging others
through my willingness
to face
my own hidden pain
that was entangled
with theirs —
setting down
a false
sense of self
and bits of pride
in exchange for
natural beauty
and connection.
It was the hardest
and most simple thing.
One Silent Prayer
It became clear
that all that had
gone before
had prepared me
perfectly for each
unfolding moment
as I continued on
a little more naturally —
holding, letting go —
listening
as thought
became one continuous,
ever-deepening silent
prayer.
Where There Is Nothing
I honor
all that is
unfolding.
And I hold
this space
where there is
nothing
to be sorted out
or healed.
Amen
A Little Deeper Down
In place of
the disconnect
and old dialogues
that used to happen,
all that was
in support of
the deepest kind
of healing
began to rise up.
Old wounds were
honored,
not acted out —
not sifted through.
There was a
new network
of support —
firmly held in place
from a little deeper
down.
