Self became
less of a thing
to sort out
and fix
and more of
a fluid,
flexible way
of exploring
and being —
not so solid.
Quiet Reflections and Prayers
Self became
less of a thing
to sort out
and fix
and more of
a fluid,
flexible way
of exploring
and being —
not so solid.
I gathered up
all of the pieces
I once thought
were broken.
And there was
a quieting,
a listening
silent prayer —
no more pushing,
or needing anything
to change.
It was enough
to know
we shared this space
in our hearts.
I found my deepest
healing connections
in unexpected places.
And so I learned
to trust
the quiet prayer
that led me
again and again
back to my own
just right
unfolding path.
I began to listen
a little more deeply —
turning down the volume
of thoughts and stories —
focusing more and more
in my heart.
I found the contrast
shocking, really.
There was a tender
kind of sadness
as a quieter view
came more into focus
and what was most real
and true
began to show through
all the clutter.
And I vowed
that however great
the contrast became,
this time —
I wouldn’t let go
of this.
Help us
to hold a space
for ourselves
and each other.
Remind us
of the power
in remaining
rooted in our hearts.
Help us to trust
in this natural flow
that has carried us
through unfolding stories,
into silence
and back.
Thank you
for each heart
in which true peace
is held.
Amen
And so it was
this deep listening
prayer
that reached down
into the places
in me
that couldn’t be
reached in other ways —
healing
and reminding me
how to listen
with my heart.
Help us
to see through
all that has
blinded us
from ourselves
and each other.
Remind us of
our true strength
and beauty.
Teach us to honor
both our wholeness
and our brokenness.
Quiet our hearts
and guide us
gently back
to this place
of neutrality —
if only for a moment,
if only in
our own hearts.
Amen
I began to get
a sense of
what it meant
to be in the heart,
to notice the peace
I had longed for.
It was quieter
here.
And still I knew
to continue on.
After all,
there really was
no going back
and no clear destination —
only a mysterious
unfolding road
ahead of me
and the most beautiful
prayer I had ever heard —
without any words.
Life began to feel
more organic.
Trying to be
a certain way
or thing
was replaced
with natural movements
of exploring
and doing my
very best with
the pieces in front
of me
in each moment —
showing up
as my truest self
again and again —
trusting in life —
because I had dared
to let go
of everything.
I found this
silent holding
prayer began to
reach far —
through the
wounded places —
into the tender,
most creative
magical spaces
in my heart
that couldn’t be
reached in other ways —
the ones that
carried on
so gently
through any kind
of storm.
