Once I vowed
to hold
this empty space
for as long
as it took —
until something
beautiful appeared.
That was before
I realized it was
this empty space
and this holding
that is most sacred
and beautiful.
Quiet Reflections and Prayers
Once I vowed
to hold
this empty space
for as long
as it took —
until something
beautiful appeared.
That was before
I realized it was
this empty space
and this holding
that is most sacred
and beautiful.
It didn’t matter
so much
after a while
if anyone else
could hear
this quiet prayer
from within
our hearts.
It only mattered
that I knew
it was there —
safely tucked away —
forgotten,
but never lost.
When the world
becomes noisy
and I can’t fit
all of the pieces
together,
I will stand still
in my heart.
And I will
find comfort —
knowing I am
held with love.
Amen
And so I vowed
to go to the
very center of
my heart,
to do whatever
was required,
not knowing
what I would find
or if I would ever
make my way back,
no longer waiting
for relief
or healing
from outside of me —
reaching only
for the faint whispers
from a place
almost forgotten..
Let me be
quiet
and empty —
that I might
hear the prayer
of my heart.
Amen
Let this life
unfold
as a prayer
and proof
of all that is
beautiful and
mysterious.
Help us
to walk through
all that is required.
Amen
When there is
much to sort through,
remind me
to focus within.
Help me
to be present
in this moment —
In my heart.
I know it is
just enough.
Amen
I honor the parts
of this life
that refuse
to be sorted out
and limited
by labels and
continuing stories.
I honor each part
of us
that rises up
to write a new story —
this time
from the heart.
Amen
Within this
state of prayer,
I hold,
ever so lightly,
what is in front
of me —
gently setting down
all else.
Amen
I return
in stillness
and in honor
of what is always
and only
right here,
seemingly distant,
yet instantly close —
so blindingly beautiful
that I would sit
forever —
just to hear
one more sweet whisper
of truth.
