There was a kind
of relief
in realizing
I didn’t need to
fit all of the pieces
together.
I didn’t need to
force feeling better.
I didn’t need
to force anything
or be anything
other than what
was there
naturally —
underneath.
Quiet Reflections and Prayers
There was a kind
of relief
in realizing
I didn’t need to
fit all of the pieces
together.
I didn’t need to
force feeling better.
I didn’t need
to force anything
or be anything
other than what
was there
naturally —
underneath.
The point
in taking this path,
if there was one,
wasn’t to get
to some
sorted out place,
but to see
that wherever I landed
within
this delicate process
of holding and letting go
was a beautiful part
of the whole.
Help us to
have patience
with ourselves
and each other.
Help us to hold
what’s right here.
I know we’re
all doing
our very best.
Amen
Underneath
all of the noise,
past the misunderstandings
and old wounds
and even older traumas,
there is pure longing,
not to be fixed,
but to be loved.
And so I take hold
of this place in me.
And if I must
reassure it
in every
moment
forever,
I will.
— Laurie, Healer of My Own Heart
Sometimes it’s nice
to show up
as I am —
to meet others
as they are —
to toss my thoughts
and wait
for them to come
back down
a little more gently —
to hold a space
for just the kind
of love
that doesn’t need
a continuous narration
or specific way
to be.
There is peace
in all that is here —
refusing to be
packaged up neatly,
honored to be
as it is.
— Laurie, What’s Right Here
I hold this space
within
in honor of all that has
yet to be loved,
holding what is here
as it appears
in me,
as it appears in the world,
as it is in all of us —
as it is.
— Laurie, Healer of My Own Heart
This peace comes
from the courage
to be present
right here –
where there are
many thoughts
and many distractions –
where there is acceptance
of all of this,
where all is surrounded
in love,
mixed up together –
somehow, mysteriously
becoming
beautiful as it is.
— from earlier notes
I hold
what is here
as it is
in my heart
as it is
in us all —
as it is.
Amen.
I hold what is here
with love,
as it is in me,
as it is in you —
as it gently transforms itself
back into its purest form.
Amen.
