Quiet Reflections and Prayers
For the times
when there is nothing
left to do
but keep walking through,
when every word
we would try to say
couldn’t honor
the courage it takes
to just keep quiet
in our hearts
and keep walking,
when all attempts
to explain or sort
only seem
to make it worse —
for these times,
I offer this
living prayer.
Amen
And so
life continued on —
with all of its
ups and downs
and winding story lines.
But I never forgot
or let go
of the peace I had found
at its core.
May we be comforted as we continue on. And may we always honor the tender places within our hearts. Amen
I dared to stop,
to be still in my heart
just long enough
for words to form
to comfort
all that was unsettled
in me.
And then I found
the comfort came
before the words
in my willingness to be
with all that is here —
in the presence of
my own soul.
Journeys can
sometimes be challenging.
May we find courage
to trust
in their unfolding
and a little comfort
and beauty
along the way.
Amen
I found there was
always space
within my heart.
And there was comfort
where words couldn’t go —
the silent places into which
they faded
and appeared again
in different forms
without ever losing
their true essence.
I return again
to silence —
to listen
with the very heart
I once viewed
as broken,
to stand still
where I was once
afraid to pass through —
to find
my deepest comfort
in all that I couldn’t
quite fit together.

Remind me
of the sacred moments,
the ones that touch
my deepest heart,
the moments that appear
right in the middle
of this crazy,
beautiful life —
where there is
always peace.
I offer my willingness
to show up,
to quiet all the pieces
of my heart
just long enough
to gather them into
a quiet prayer
that will carry me
gently from here.
