Quiet Reflections and Prayers
It’s a funny thing
this being,
me and you —
the one we can’t
ever see.
And so I try
to gather something up
to show us
what it is —
every time
new pieces.
Perhaps we didn’t
understand.
It’s not a riddle
to be solved.
Just watch them —
where they land.
When we have reached
the place of
no turning back —
again,
when the road ahead
can’t be seen
and the past seems
to linger a bit too long,
remind us
of the ever-present calm
beneath the surface
and the honor
in holding
this space
for each other.

Whisper your love
softly,
in this place –
that we might hear
your voice
above all else.
Amen
It’s the stillness
I return to,
where thought arises
in the moment,
taking on
a deeper meaning,
beyond thinking —
where each part
flows into the next,
and I am whole.
Give us strength
to hold our ground
in our hearts.
If ever there was
a need for such strength,
it is surely now.
Help us to remember
what it feels like
to listen
from this place —
to filter out
what is most true —
that we will
always find our way.

One day
I looked inside,
expecting to see
the desperate searching,
the longing to fit,
the crying out
and pushing down –
the one who struggled
to piece it all together.
But on this day,
I found none of it.
I realized I had it
backwards before.
All of these pieces
weren’t really meant
to fit neatly together
at all.
They were meant
to be free.
Thank you
for this quiet prayer
that frees my attention
to focus again
on this experience
in front of me
and to follow
where it leads.
May it always return
to the quiet space
in my heart —
where all experience
is honored —
where there is
always just enough
understanding and insight —
where no words
are needed
but flow
out sweetly anyway.

Remind us
of the power
in our willingness
to pause
for a moment —
to go within —
to honor
what is here
as it is —
allowing what is
naturally transforming
and returning to
the quiet space
that is
forever.

Because I had grown tired
of all the trying
so hard
to find my way
back to my own heart,
I found peace
in the simplicity
of the surrender
and natural movement
that happened
in reconnecting with
and being
the quiet prayer
that had guided me
ever so gently
back to itself.
I found a little magic
in the way I began
to honor
and allow feelings
to pass through me,
no longer meeting them
as the tightly
held together sense
of self
with a neatly
packaged story
as before,
but as the one
who was free
to explore and meet life
as it appeared
in each moment —
as a quiet prayer.
