I began to trust
the place in me
that knew how to listen
with my heart,
not taking in
so deeply
all that had been
too much —
holding space
for all that fit
just right.
Quiet Reflections and Prayers
I began to trust
the place in me
that knew how to listen
with my heart,
not taking in
so deeply
all that had been
too much —
holding space
for all that fit
just right.
There was a lightness
that came
from not needing
to follow every thought
and a little magic
in the courage it took
to stand
in the silent spaces
in-between.
I hold this space
in my heart,
this once forgotten place,
in honor of all that is
gentle and soft
and all that is mysterious
and unloved –
knowing that,
in this place,
nothing else is needed.
— from earlier notes
This peace comes
from the courage
to be present
right here –
where there are
many thoughts
and many distractions –
where there is acceptance
of all of this,
where all is surrounded
in love,
mixed up together –
somehow, mysteriously
becoming
beautiful as it is.
— from earlier notes
May we find
a place of stillness
within —
remembering always
the truth
of who we are.
And may we live
from this place.
Amen
— Laurie, What’s Right Here
After a while,
I began to respect
and honor
my part within
the mystery.
I found it was
safe to let go
a little more
and continue on —
trusting in
a peace
I didn’t quite understand.
I vow to be
in my heart
and in the world
in a new way,
holding
and letting go
in each moment
as best I can,
honoring
my own experience
and yours —
knowing you are
also holding
this same silent prayer.
Amen
After a while,
I began to trust
the quieter moments
of in-between.
I began to see
the beauty
in the ability
to keep my focus
on what was most real
and true in my heart,
no matter what was
appearing on the surface —
trusting in
the natural way
the love I found there
always spilled over.
I began to love
and honor
the place in me
I had tried so hard
to help,
the part already
in tune
with the natural unfolding,
connection,
and silence beyond
what could be written.

At a certain point,
I began to set down
the tools I had gathered.
I stopped looking
to gather
and sort
and perfect.
I started showing up
a little more fully
and listening,
a little more attentively,
to the quiet wisdom
within my own heart.
