And so
life continued on —
with all of its
ups and downs
and winding story lines.
But I never forgot
or let go
of the peace I had found
at its core.

One Quiet Prayer
When the outer world
seems most chaotic,
remind me
of the calm within
that carries me
safely through
all circumstances.
Help me to listen
a little more deeply
when I am most tempted
to turn away —
never underestimating
the power
of one subtle,
quiet prayer
whispered from this place.
Amen
Resetting
I found I only needed
to know the very next step
in front of me.
Though it was often
painful to stand
right where I was,
I learned to respect
this place
of in-between,
to focus within —
to honor the journey
and live from
the quiet prayer
that had led me to
the most precious treasures —
resetting again and again
and continuing on.
Moment of Reprieve
Thank you
for each step
of the mysterious
unfolding of life.
Help me to honor
the tender places,
my greatest challenges —
all unsorted pieces
that led me
to this moment
of reprieve.

When life on the surface
becomes messy,
remind me
to sink a little
deeper in
and reach a little
higher up.
Help me to release
the projections placed
on myself and others,
to move with honor
and compassion
and continue on
from here.

A Gentler Way of Being
Because I had tired
of old ways
or because I sensed
the time had come
to forge
a different path,
I settled in
just below the surface —
daring to stand still
in chaos,
becoming willing
to listen with my heart —
letting go of the need
to be neatly sorted —
rediscovering the subtle,
natural beauty
in the return to
a gentler way of being.
Hidden Underneath
Let us remember
the sacredness
of our unique journeys
and connection
as one family.
Help us to answer
the longings
hidden underneath
the distractions
of a healing world.
Let us be
the healers we are.

For the times
when what is
on the surface
is difficult to accept
and even harder
